Last Week in CBL #1

CBL Baylor kicked off this week with our very first meeting of the semester! Hosted in a brand new location (Foster 203), our meetings took on a different form. Clustered into tables, groups sat around and fellowshipped as individuals began to arrive. Our president started off the meeting with a prayer and then by introducing CBL and the leadership team. We then moved into a time of discussion as each leader paired up and led a group at various tables. The groups spent some time together discussing topics among themselves and got to know one another. It then moved into a time of devotion as we discussed 1 Peter 4:10-11 and Colossians 3:23-24. In 1 Peter, various groups shared about what it meant to be servant leaders, using the gifts that the Lord has provided for the service of others even in our careers. For Colossians 3:23-24, the verses that are at the core of CBL Baylor, past members shared why they believed that these verse are at the core of our organization. We then wrapped up with some announcements including our winner of the minutes competition.

This week CBL heartbeat also held a worship night at Eliston Chapel. It was a great time of worship and praise through a stormy and rainy Saturday evening. We had our very own advisor, Priscilla James, who led the time of worship with Vanessa Turner and David Foo on music. With songs like "King of my Heart" and "Endless Love", Eliston Chapel was filled with praise. We ended the night with a great song of celebration - "Glorious Day".

Thanks for tuning into last week in CBL. Have an awesome week up ahead! Follow us on Instagram and facebook to keep up with all things CBL.

Planning for the First Meeting

It's crazy to think that the semester is already in three weeks deep. Over the last several weeks, CBL leadership have been planning events and meetings for current and new upcoming members. One of the key major changes that CBL leadership has implemented is it's weekly all leadership meetings. Previously, only executive leaders would meet once a week. However, under the leadership of our president, it was decided that all leadership should meet weekly to speed up the process of communication among committees.

Another key change this year will be that our weekly meetings shall now be moved to room 203 in Foster. We hope that the open layout of this room will encourage more interaction and community among members. We're excited to bring this minor change and see where it will take us.

Please continue to follow us here to be updated on all things CBL. We would also love to hear any feedback or ideas that you might have for leadership. Don't hesitate to contact and of the leadership with suggestions, ideas or even criticism. We are so excited to have everyone back and we hope to see you at our first meeting!

Colin Minogue at the EOYC Celebration Spring 2018

At the End of the Year Celebration that was hosted in the Spring of 2018, Rebecca Rodriguez our former President handed the mantel over to a next generation of leadership. Colin Minogue was appointed the President of CBL for the upcoming fiscal school year of Fall 2018 - Spring 2019. In his statement he said: "I am incredibly honored to serve as the President of Christian Business Leaders for the 2018-2019 academic year. I hope to do whatever I possibly can to help cultivate business leaders within Hankamer who have a passion for Christ. I am at peace knowing that Christ is truly leading this organization, and that He has great plans for our members. Through this organization, we will serve our community, serve our business school, and serve the Lord. I am thrilled to see what God will do with this organization."

We are truly excited to see what Christ has in store for us as an organization. We are so blessed to have young and faithful servants who are willing to step up and serve. To see who else will be serving on the Leadership team, go to:

Graduating Members - Spring 2018

We are so proud to honor two graduating members this year who have been very special to this organization, and both have undoubtedly made a tremendous impact on the organization that CBL is today. To see their full graduation speeches, check out the videos down below.

Priscilla James

Priscilla was introduced to CBL by Rebecca in 2017, but was not able to join right away due to conflicts in her schedule. Priscilla was finally able to join this year and has had a fantastic time with the organization. She has especially enjoyed speaker meetings and answering tough questions that we discuss in groups, such as how we will show faith in the workplace. Priscilla took away that we should be ourselves, which is how the Lord made us, and also how to step up in leadership. Priscilla also enjoyed the progressive mixer because it provided her with an opportunity to get to know members in our group. She is looking forward to CBL exemplifying faith by reaching out to others.

Rebecca Rodriguez

In her graduating introduction, Rebecca wrote: "In early January 2016, God invited me to partake in an extraordinary journey of faith with Ashley Rea and Ashlee Wooldridge to establish Christian Business Leaders in our business school. The mission of CBL is what captivated me - as a sophomore at Baylor, I longed for opportunities to talk about how my faith in the workplace could be used as a beacon of light with purpose, not just tucked under the rug. I believe the Great Commission is best accomplished not within a limited circumference of time, but rather in our routine life - day to day (aka in what we do). I want to maximize the platform God has given me within the world of business to share his name through the way I do things, the way I say things, and the way I respond to difficult circumstances. I believe my development as a result of taking hold of CBL's mission and owning it has given me reassurance that I'm not alone in the good fight we're called to live, has encouraged me to embrace the skills and talents God has given me, and empowered me to go out into unknown waters (i.e. ExxonMobil) and dare to show where my hope is found in my day-to-day work life. Thank you, CBL, for stretching me more than I could ever think or imagine! Thank you for letting me serve you these past two and a half years. To God be the Glory forever!"
